The data behind the dashboard
Gaza by the Numbers applies no adjustments of its own. It reads openly available Tech for Palestine datasets and labels the resulting figures as reported. Those datasets aggregate Gaza Ministry of Health and Government Media Office reports for Gaza and UN OCHA data for the West Bank; see the methodology for the full provenance chain. Tech for Palestine's repository releases its data into the public domain.
Summary indicators
Cumulative reported casualty, injury, and humanitarian indicators for Gaza and the West Bank. This source powers the headline figures and most statistics on the dashboard, with no adjustments by this site.
Daily casualties
Day-by-day reported killed and injured figures since October 7, 2023. The dashboard uses this series for the cumulative fatalities trend and, if a humanitarian field is absent from the latest summary, the most recent reported cumulative value and date.
Killed in Gaza, named victims
A registry of victims identified by name, built from official lists released by Gaza's Ministry of Health. It excludes the missing, unidentified, and people buried without reaching hospitals, so it is an undercount by construction. The dashboard uses it for named-victims totals and demographic breakdowns.
